Cupping
What is cupping?
Cupping is an ancient therapy rooted in Chinese and Middle Eastern medicine, designed to promote healing, relieve tension, and support overall wellbeing. The treatment involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, which encourages blood flow, eases muscle tightness, and stimulates the body’s natural healing processes.
Cups can be made from glass, silicone, bamboo, or plastic, and are typically left on the skin for several minutes. Cupping is often combined with massage or acupuncture for enhanced benefits.

Fire Cupping
Fire cupping is a traditional technique where a flame is briefly used to create suction inside glass cups before they are placed on the skin. This method provides a stronger pull, helping to release deeper muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote detoxification.
What is Cupping Used For?
Cups can be applied along the body’s meridians to restore balance and support the healthy flow of qi (energy). Cupping may help with:
-
Back, neck, knee, and shoulder pain
-
Muscular tension, stiffness, and injuries
-
Limited range of motion
-
Headaches and migraines
-
Digestive issues
-
Respiratory problems such as colds, coughs, and asthma
-
Stress and hypertension
Additional benefits include:
-
Improving circulation and blood flow
-
Stimulating the immune system
-
Supporting natural healing and recovery
Does cupping leave marks?
Cupping can leave temporary circular marks on the skin, which are not painful and usually fade within a few days. The colour and intensity of the marks can indicate areas of tension, muscle tightness, or toxin build-up. With regular treatments, marks generally become lighter as the body restores balance.
Many clients choose fire cupping for deeper muscle release and enhanced therapeutic effects, which may leave slightly more pronounced marks that also fade within a few days.
