Kinesiology Taping

What is kinesiology taping?

Simply put, kinesiology taping is the process of using tape to strap up parts of the body which need support. The tape itself is really stretchy and provides support without limiting movement.

Once it’s on your body, the tape lifts the skin to create a microscopic space between your skin and the soft tissue beneath it.

How does kinesiology taping work?

Using a special kind of tape to support joints and muscles, it allows the body to continue with a full range of movement while helping to heal existing injuries.

It decreases inflammation in the injured area, while helping to ease the pain too. The tiny space created by the tape allows increased blood flow to help the healing process.

Who will benefit from
kinesiology taping?

It is ideal for any patient who has a sports-related injury. The tape will help support and heal the injury while still allowing freedom of movement. It’s been known to work brilliantly for:

  • Muscle Strains
  • Joint Stabilisation (Ankle, Shoulder, Knee)
  • Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Shin Splints
  • Rotator Cuff Issues

What are the benefits of
kinesiology taping?

There are many of benefits – here are just a handful:

  • Speeds up recovery and repair of injury
  • Helps re-educate and ‘re-train’ dysfunctional muscles by increasing or inhibiting movement
  • Corrects misalignment of joints
  • Improves poor posture
  • Prevents injury and improves peak performance
