The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and The World Health Organisation (WHO) both recommend acupuncture for a range of pain-related conditions. NICE does not recommend opioids or other pain killers to manage pain.
Acupuncture can be a great way of dealing with pain and here is a list of conditions it may help with:
-Fibromyalgia
-Headache and Migraine
-Neuropathic pain
-Post-Operative pain
-Back pain
-Toothache
-Facial Pain (commonly resulting from temporomandibular joint disorder)
-Frozen shoulder
-Gout
-Osteoarthritis
-Rheumatoid arthritis
-Sciatica
-Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
… and so much more
Acupuncture helps by stimulating the nervous system and causing the release of neurochemical messenger molecules. Such biochemical changes influence homeostatic mechanisms which promote physical and emotional well-being. Acupuncture also promotes relaxation, reduces muscle stiffness and improves joint mobility.
